Description
This wrought iron fire poker is hand forged from 3/8″ round steel bar. It features a wrapped, curled tail at the handle and a classic split fork poker. The poker is very sturdy, measuring almost three feet in length, making it easy to tend your fire in the fire pit, bbq, or large fireplace.
This is a very traditional and functional style firepit poker. The poker comes with a hand forged nail for hanging.
Every item I make is hand forged and wholly unique.
Dimensions:
36″ long x 2″ wide (poker’s head)
Finish:
Wire polish brush and beeswax/linseed oil coating
Process:
I forge out the handle by drawing it out on the anvil, loop the end and twist it around itself. The hook is split by hand while the steel is red hot, forged to points and curled. The length of the fire poker is heated to a red heat and brushed vigorously to remove excess scale, and smooth out the surface. With the latent heat in the poker, I apply a coating of linseed oil to finish and protect the piece from rusting.
